HAMMONTON - A ribbon cutting was celebrated in Downtown Hammonton last week at JNR Beauty Supplies, 27 Central Ave., during Girls’ Night Out on Third Thursday.
The new shop opened the first week of December and provides a local spot to shop for specialty beauty supplies. Mayor Steve DiDonato, John Runfolo, executive director of the Greater Hammonton Chamber of Commerce, and Cassie Iacovelli, executive director of MainStreet Hammonton, attended the ceremony to welcome the new business to town.
Owner Leslie Roberson of Folsom is bringing her experience as a former runway model in New York, Philadelphia and other places around the country to help her customers achieve the new look they are searching for.
She wanted to open her shop in Hammonton to provide residents with a local place to find their beauty supplies. She said she is eager to find out what local customers want and plans to special order anything that she doesn’t already carry.
If you don’t see it, just ask, she advised.
“When people want something in particular, we are trying to service those needs,” Roberson said. “We are trying to cater to each person. It’s local, why should you have to travel to Williamstown or Vineland when you live right here?”
“I’m thrilled that she came to Hammonton,” said Iacovelli. “I think she is providing a business that is needed in the area. I really wanted her to have a good spot. I recommended her looking at this place because we already have a couple salons, a barber shop, and the brow bar. It seemed like a common theme, and I thought it would be a nice compliment to what was already on this street.”
Shoppers at JNR Beauty Supplies will find a line of Jordana makeup, a variety of jewelry and purses, artificial eye lashes, wax, hair dye, natural hair coloring, nail polish, hair accessories and skin care products. Specialty products like Queen Helene Murula body cream, Brazilian Keratin hair products, the As I Am line, and Pinaud Club Man styling gel are also available.
JMR Beauty Supplies also has a large inventory of wigs and supplies for weaves and braiding. An on-site dressing room provides a comfortable private space where customers can try different wigs until they find the perfect fit.
The staff at JNR is always eager to help their customers. In fact, it is this love of helping others that motivated Roberson to open the shop.
“I enjoy helping people feel wonderful,” said Roberson, who promises to be honest with her customers. She said she will use her skills to supply customers with products that suit them and will delicately tell customers if a wig or make-up tone does not compliment them.
JNR Beauty Supplies is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit www.jnrbeautysupplies.com or call (609) 666-5919.
