Lower Cape May 42, St. Joseph 30 – Marykate McLaughlin scored nine points and Nicole Fox added seven in the Wildcats’ loss to the Caper Tigers.
St. Joseph was outscored 18-9 in the second half.
Holy Spirit 45, St. Joseph 25 – The Wildcats dropped their season finale to the Spartans after falling into a 21-11 hole at halftime.
McLaughlin led St. Joseph with eight points and Carleigh Galasso chipped in with seven.
The Wildcats end their season with a 10-16 record.
Cape-Atlantic League Tournament
St. Augustine 74, St. Joseph 52 – The eighth-seeded Wildcats struggled early against St. Augustine, the top seed and eventual champ, and never recovered.
St. Joseph’s Jordan Herrin led all scorers with 22 points, but the team didn’t have enough firepower against the perennial state power.
St. Joseph 84, Holy Cross 56 – After getting off to a slow start, the Wildcats heated up in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Crusaders 52-22.
Herrin led St. Joseph with 17 points and teammate Devin Martin scored 15.
Marcellus Ross was the third Wildcat in double-figures, tallying 12 points, and Terrence Pough added nine in the win.
Coming up – St. Joseph, the No. 12 seed in the Non-Public B South playoffs, took on No. 5 Roselle Catholic in the first round on March 1. The game ended too late for publication. The winner would face the victor of No. 4 St. Rose-No. 13 Ranney on March 3.
Region 8 Tournament – St. Joseph 220-pounder Mike Mascioli advanced to the quarterfinals with a win in the opening night of the tournament.
Mascioli, the No. 10 seed, upset No. 7 Jamison Burrow of Penns Grove, 10-6.
Region 8 Tournament – Mascioli came close to pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the tournament in the quarterfinals on Feb. 26, but fell to No. 2 Vito Nucci of Clearview, 6-4.
On Feb. 27, Mascioli opened wrestlebacks with an 8-4 decision over Winslow’s Timothy Miles, but had his season come to an end in the next round with a 3-2 setback to Delsea’s Vince DeGeorge.
