April 1

St. Joseph 13, Bridgeton 3 – John Payne had a memorable Opening Day for St. Joseph, hitting a grand slam in a win over Bridgeton. Josh Crowley had three hits, including a triple, and drove in two RBIs.

Jacob Brennen picked up the win, striking out two in two innings.

April 5

St. Joseph 6, Cedar Creek 2 – The Wildcats shut out the Pirates for five innings en route to the win. St. Joseph took advantage of eight Cedar Creek errors.

April 7

Middle Twp. 5, St. Joseph 2 – Joe Marino had two hits for the Wildcats, who went scoreless until scoring two runs in the seventh inning. Pitcher Joe Schipsi struck out seven and allowed just five hits in a losing cause.

April 8

St. Joseph 14, Cape May Tech 5 – Payne registered four hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs to lead the Wildcats to victory. Hakim Salaam added a homer as well to help bolster the Wildcat offense. Marino and A’laam Horne doubled in the win.

Diego Martinez picked up his first win of the season, striking out six.

Coming up – The Wildcats are off until April 18 when they host Pleasantville.

Softball

April 1

St. Joseph 24, Bridgeton 0 – Taylor Sirolli struck out nine and pitched four no-hit innings for St. Joseph on Opening Day.

Sara Raubertas knocked in five runs, and teammate Cara Owsley drove in four. Gabrielle Fanelli and Laurent Rutt both recorded three RBIs in the win.

April 4

St. Joseph 5, Holy Spirit 2 – Raubertas doubled and drove in three as the Wildcats prevailed over the Spartans.

Owsley added two hits and two RBIs and Jessica Poston, Rutt and Sirolli all added two hits. Fanelli picked up the win.

April 5

St. Joseph 7, Cedar Creek 2 – Sirolli pitched a complete game for the win, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out six. Raubertas paced the offense with four hits, two runs and an RBI, and Owsley added two hits, including a double.

April 7

St. Joseph 2. Middle Twp. 1 – Sirolli mowed down 14 batters and allowed just one run on four hits in seven innings in the win.

Owsley had two singles and an RBI and Poston also drove in a run. Kyra Berrios and Fanelli both doubled in the win.

April 8

St. Joseph 13, Cape May Tech 3 – Raubertas and Sirolli both smashed home runs as the Wildcats opened the season with their fifth straight win.

Raubertas and Gianna Morganti drove in four runs in the victory. Sirolli added two RBIs. Geena Tartaglia had three hits and an RBI. Fanelli earned the win.

Coming up – The Wildcats are off until April 18 when they are at Pleasantville.

Golf

April 7

Cape May Tech 175, St. Joseph 189 – Brad Lomax shot a 45 for St. Joseph in the loss. Dylan Kramer recorded a 47.

April 8

St. Joseph 169, Bridgeton 272 – Lomax shot a team-best 39 as the Wildcats topped the Bulldogs. Dom Grassi shot a 41 and Joe Higbee added a 42.

Coming up – The Wildcats host Buena on April 18.

Boys’ track

April 6

Buena 102, St. Joseph 35 – Sean Hefner and Denzel Ferada picked up individual wins for the Wildcats. Hefner won the high jump (5 feet, 2 inches) and Ferada took first in the shot put (39-4).

Coming up – The Wildcats are at the Woodbury Relays on April 16 and at Cedar Creek on April 18.

Girls’ track

Buena 120, St. Joseph 20 – Corrine Guilford won the 400 meters with a time of 1:07.1 for the Wildcats only individual victory.
