HAMMONTON - This month’s Third Thursday was all about the ladies as Downtown Hammonton celebrated with the theme of “Girls’ Night Out.”

At the Toy Market, members Elizabeth Molino and Alina Bolf, both 6, of Daisy Troop 30987 were out selling cookies for the annual Girl Scout cookie sale. “This is my second time selling cookies,” said Elizabeth. Alina enjoys selling cookies but her favorite parts about being a Daisy scout are “doing arts and crafts.”

The employees at The New You were experiencing their first Third Thursday in their new location at 112 Bellevue Ave. Originally on Third Street, the family owned Salon and Barber shop has experienced much more foot traffic since moving to their new location. “We have had a nice amount of walk-ins,” said manager Laurie Pacetti.

The New You offers services for children, women and men, including straight razor. Generally, The New You is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. However, the hours can be flexible to accommodate customers. In honor of night’s theme of Girls Night Out, the salon was offering a coupon for a complimentary eyebrow shaping.

The Record Shop, located inside the Antique Marketplace, held a record swap which brought in music lovers from miles away.

Ray Perry came from Carney’s Point to see if there were any more vinyl albums he could add to his collection, which he started only a few months ago. “I like to look for anything that catches my eye, anything unique,” said Perry.

While Perry enjoys all kinds of music, he is partial to Black Sabbath and makes sure to keep an extra close eye for the group’s albums. Although Perry enjoys the hobby because of the music, it also offers a chance to meet other vinyl album collectors. “It’s nice coming out and meeting people,” Perry said.

Next month’s Third Thursday theme will be “Amore: Italian Love Affair” and will be held on Feb. 16.
