HAMMONTON – The Hammonton Cancer Foundation is seeking sponsors and tributes for its eighth annual “Helping Our Neighbors” fundraiser set for Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Winslow Manor, Hay and Hall streets, Winslow Township. The event, which begins at 6 p.m., will feature a buffet dinner with homemade desserts, a silent auction, an honor/memory slide show and entertainment.
Sponsors can help by purchasing an ad in a program book which will be given to the 300 people who attend the event. Individuals can honor or memorialize a family member or friend through a PowerPoint presentation shown during the event with a donation of $5 for a name or $10 for a photo and a name. The foundation also welcomes other donations.
To purchase an ad, to honor or memorialize someone in the PowerPoint or to donate, visit HammontonCancerFoundation.org or call (609)561-8585.
Friday, Sept 25, is the deadline for all ads or tributes.
Funds will benefit the South Jersey Cancer Fund, an all-volunteer organization formed in 1964, which each year helps hundreds of cancer patients in Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties pay their expenses. Patient financial help includes medical and prescription costs, Cobra, co-pay, lab, utility and transportation bills. The fund helped more than 600 cancer patients in the last two years.
The work they do is reflected in this quote from a patient: “Please accept my heartfelt thanks for the assistance you so generously gave us in our time of need. You were a light in so many days of uncertainty and we are grateful for your help. We hope to someday be able to assist you as you help others.”
In the past seven years, the Hammonton organization has raised more than $145,000 for the South Jersey group, which has helped many Hammonton residents.
