Girls’ basketball

Jan. 5

Cape May Tech 43, St. Joseph 39 – Alyssa Gerdes scored a game-high 17 points for the Wildcats. Nicole Fox added 11 in the loss.

Jan. 6

Wildwood Catholic 52, St. Joseph 30 – The Wildcats struggled in the first half, scoring eight total points and falling behind by 20.

Gerdes had 16 points and Carleigh Galasso added seven for St. Joseph.

Jan. 8

Middle Twp. 44, St. Joseph 27 – Galasso scored 13 points to lead the Wildcats. St. Joseph was outscored 30-12 over the second and third quarters.

Coming up – The Wildcats are at Ocean City on Jan. 13 and Cedar Creek on Jan. 15 before hosting Highland in Jan. 19.

Boys’ basketball

Jan. 4

St. Joseph 73, Cape May Tech 38 – Jordan Herrin poured in 38 points and Auris Tverijonas added 16 as the Wildcats cruised to the win.

Terrence Pough, Kevin Witasick, and Marcellus Ross all added eight points in the victory.

Jan. 6

Wildwood Catholic 83, St. Joseph 60 – Ross led the Wildcats with 16 points and Dontae Loveland scored 14.

The Wildcats were in the game until the Crusaders pulled away with a 32-15 third quarter.

Jan. 8

Middle Twp. 60, St. Joseph 31 – Herrin scored eight points for the Wildcats. St. Joseph was outscored 30-11 in the opening half.

Coming up – The Wildcats are home against Ocean City on Jan. 13 and Cedar Creek on Jan. 15.

Wrestling

Jan. 6

St. Joseph 39, Palmyra 18 – David Iuliucci (106 pounds), Evan Fallon (120) and Daniel Hatvany (152) all registered pins for the Wildcats.

Heavyweight Mike Mascioli added a 3-1 decision and the rest of the team’s points came on forfeits.

Jan. 8

Pitman 60. St. Joseph 18 – Fallon (120) and Mascioli (220) picked up pins for the Wildcats. Iuliucci (106) and Keevon Berry (195) won by decision.

Jan. 9

Delran 60, St. Joseph 22 – Iuliucci (106), Hatvany (152) and Berry (195) all won by fall. Mascioli (220) earned a 9-1 major decision.

Deptford 54, St. Joseph 24 – The Wildcats won three of the five weight classes contested, but forfeited eight matches.

Hatvany (152), Berry (195) and Mascioli (220) all put their opponents on their backs for St. Joseph.

Coming up – The Wildcats host Middle Township on Jan. 13 and then travel to Bordentown on Jan. 15 and Atlantic City on Jan. 18.
