The Isley Brothers are showing no signs of slowing down.
The legendary group from Teaneck released a new single and video after their hit Easter Sunday appearance on Verzuz with Earth, Wind & Fire.
The song, “Friends and Family,” is a down-easy step jam featuring a rap from Snoop Dogg. Check it out below.
Ronald and Ernie Isley's performance April 4 on Verzuz drew numerous accolades, including from host Steve Harvey.
“You're sexy and still touring,” Harvey said. “Old and gold. I tell you, stop getting old and see what happens.”
Ronald proudly said he was 79 on Verzuz and that they were working on a new album. Ernie stole the show with his guitar playing on their classic “Who's That Lady,” near the end of the nearly four-hour broadcast. He played his guitar behind his back and with his teeth.
Fans watching on Instagram missed part of Ernie's solo as the IG broadcast timed out before he was done. Before the solo Ernie explained the inspiration of many of the Isley’s classics.
“We always wanted to use our songs to compliment women,” Ernie said. “Any of our love songs, if you listen to it from that point of view, it’s a compliment to a woman.”
Overall, the night was celebration of both groups.
“These groups that you're going to hear from tonight was before there was tracks (recording software). These groups are from before there was auto tune. Everybody up here can sing,” Harvey said.
