Jan. 11

St. Joseph 77, Buena 46 – Marcellus Ross nailed five 3-pointers in a 21-point performance to lead the Wildcats past the Chiefs.

Kevin Witasick and Jordan Herrin both had 11 points for St. Joseph, which outscored Buena 44-24 in the first half.

Jan. 13

Ocean City 65, St. Joseph 61 – Herrin scored 16 points to lead all St. Joseph scorers, but it wasn’t enough against host Ocean City. Drew Hohman and Witasick both added 11 points in the loss.

Jan. 15

St. Joseph 80, Cedar Creek 74 – The Wildcats bounced back to improve to 6-4, edging the Pirates.

Coming up – St. Joseph hosts crosstown rival Hammonton on Jan. 23 before traveling to Audubon on Jan. 25.

Girls’ basketball

Jan. 12

St. Joseph 46, Buena 31 – Carleigh Galasso scored a team-high 13 points as the Wildcats topped the Chiefs. Alyssa Gerdes had 12 points and Nicole Fox added 11 in the win.

St. Joseph jumped out to a 24-9 lead and entered the fourth quarter with a 40-19 advantage.

Jan. 13

Ocean City 49, St. Joseph 17 – Gerdes had 10 points for the Wildcats, who had just three girls find the scoresheet. Ocean City led 35-4 at the half.

Jan. 15

Cedar Creek 40, St. Joseph 12 – Galasso scored a six points in St. Joseph’s loss to Cedar Creek. The Wildcats were kept off the scoreboard for the entire first half, finding themselves down 24-0 at the break.

Coming up – The Wildcats host Oakcrest on Jan. 20 and rival Hammonton on Jan. 23. St. Joseph also hosts ACIT on Jan. 25.


Jan. 11

Burlington Twp. 54, St. Joseph 18 – St. Joseph’s Mike Mascioli (220 pounds) recorded a third-period pin, ending his match in 4 minutes, 52 seconds.

The Wildcats’ Evan Fallon (120) and Keevon Berry (195) both won two-point decisions, and Chris Mazzarelli (106) won by forfeit.

Jan. 13

Middle Twp. 55, St. Joseph 24 – Fallon (120) registered a pin in 43 seconds while Berry (195) picked up a fall in 3:50 in the loss.

Mazzarelli (113) and Mascioli (heavyweight) both won by forfeit for St. Joseph.

Jan. 15

Bordentown 60, St. Joseph 22 – David Iuliucci (106) and Mascioli (heavyweight) both won by pins for St. Joseph in the setback.

The Wildcats’ Anthony Cheeseman (195) won a 13-3 major decision and Elijah Hardee (220) won by forfeit.

Coming up – St. Joseph hosts Holy Spirit on Jan. 20 and are at Cedar Creek on Jan. 23 for a quad that also features Sterling and Overbrook. The Wildcats then open next week with a match at Gloucester Catholic.
