Ray’s barbershop celebrates opening in style
HAMMONTON - There was more than hair being cut on Thursday at Ray’s Xtreme Style Barber Shop as owner Ray Lopez celebrated the shop’s ceremonial ribbon cutting.
“It’s a passion” said Lopez, who has been in business for more than sixteen years.
Ray’s is located at 25 Central Ave, right near the corner of Vine Street. It is in the same location as Paul’s Barber Shop, which had been owned by Paul Ciarlante for 25 years.
Ciarlante passed away last year. Lopez worked for him and when the chance came to open up a shop in the same place his former boss owned, Lopez took it.
“My husband would be extremely proud to have Ray here” said Myrna Santiago, Ciarlante’s widow, who attended the ribbon cutting.
“We wouldn’t be here without her” said Lopez, who made sure Santiago was in the ribbon-cutting photos.
Some of Ray’s services include an “old style shave” and an “extreme cut,” which is a haircut, beard and old-style shave.
Every Wednesday, Ray’s has a $12 regular haircut special from opening until 4 p.m. First responders and military personal get discounts every day of the week.
Ray’s is open Mondays-Thursdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Ray’s can be reached at (609) 920-4569.
