SJTCA meet – Anthony Maturano finished second in both the 100-meter dash and the 200 at Delsea Regional. Maturano finished with a time of 10.89 seconds in the 100, and 22.04 in the 200.
Joe Dougherty was seventh in the 3,200 (9:42.77) and Jon Vega was eighth in the shot put (48-43/4).
Atlantic County Championships – Maturano won a pair of sprint titles and Dougherty won a distance championship.
Maturano proved he was the best in the county by taking first in the 100 (11.03) and the 200 (22.01) while Dougherty prevailed in the 3,200 (10:04.02).
Zach Barnard was third in the javelin (166-1) and Phillip Iuluicci was fifth in the 800 (2:01.6).
Coming up – Hammonton will compete in the Tri-County Conference Showcase on May 19 at Delsea.
Atlantic County Championships – Brooke Beebe and Ashley Ranere both earned a bronze medal.
Beebe was third in the shot put (34-21/2) and Ranere was third in the 3,200 (12:05.74). Isabella Massey was fifth in the 3,200 (12:59.16), Dominique Minerva was fourth in the discus (96-7) and Victoria Massey was fifth in the 100 hurdles (15.99), long jump (16-8) and the high jump (4-10).
Coming up – The Blue Devils will take part in the Tri-County Conference Showcase on May 19 at Delsea.
Hammonton 4, Schalick 2 – Brady Montag had three hits and Stephen Restuccio added two, including a double, in the Blue Devils’ win. Brock Mauriello struck out four en route to the victory.
Hammonton 4, GCIT 1 – Montag doubled and knocked in three runs for Hammonton. Gianni D’Antonio had two hits, a walk and a run and Sean Cocuzza doubled in a run for the victors.
Cocuzza also pitched a complete game, allowing one run on five hits while striking out six.
Seneca 2, Hammonton 1 (11 inn.) – D’Antonio and Restuccio pitched for the Blue Devils, allowing a combined two runs in Hammonton’s marathon 11-inning loss.
D’Antonio struck out six and allowed one run on two hits in eight innings while Restuccio allowed one run on two hits while striking out two in three innings of relief.
Coming up – The Blue Devils host Delsea on May 18 and Egg Harbor Township on May 20.
Triton 10, Hammonton 0 – The Blue Devils were held scoreless by Triton’s Dian Cerminaro, who also helped herself with a home run.
GCIT 9, Hammonton 6 – The Blue Devils scored five runs in the final two innings, but their comeback bid fell short in their fourth straight loss.
Kate Feby had two hits, including a double, walked twice and drove in a run for Hammonton. Paige Neilson added two singles, two runs and a stolen base. Abby Adirzone, Maddie Emmons, Jackie Ford and Sean Thomas all registered an RBI.
Coming up – Hammonton is at Kingsway on May 19 and at Schalick on May 20.
Hammonton 5, Highland 0 – Evan Barnett, Vincent Maimone and Jordan Mitchell cruised to singles wins. Matt Huster and Vincent Piccari and Tyler Oster and Sean Trinh won in straight sets in their doubles matches.
Hammonton 5, Triton 0 – Barnett, Maimone and Mitchell all recorded singles wins without dropping a game. Oster and Trinh did the same at second doubles. Huster and Piccari won 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles.
GCIT 3, Hammonton 2 – Mitchell won his first singles match 6-1, 6-1. Joseph Piccariello and Josh Fondacaro picked up a point at first doubles, winning the deciding set 10-4.
Cumberland 3, Hammonton 2 – Maimone won in straight sets at second singles for Hammonton. Mitchell won his third singles match 6-4, 3-6, 6-0.
South Jersey Group 2 first round
Hammonton 5, Cherry Hill West 0 – Mitchell didn’t drop a game in his third singles win, and Barnett and Maimone only dropped one game each at first and second singles, respectively, as the third-seeded Blue Devils took down No. 14 Cherry Hill West.
Huster and Piccari picked up a point at first doubles and Trinh and Oster won at second doubles.
Coming up – The Blue Devils were scheduled to host No. 11 Timber Creek on May 16, which ended too late for publication. The winner is tabbed to play the winner of the No. 10 Absegami-No. 2 Cumberland match. Hammonton is also scheduled to host Highland on May 18 in a regular-season match.
Williamstown 149, Hammonton 189 – Dayne Costa shot a 43 and Gage Solis carded a 45 for Hammonton.
Coming up – The Tri-County Conference Showcase tournament will be held on May 19 on Wild Oaks Golf Course.
