Local girl going for MLB National Champion for Pitch Hit and Run Contest
EGG HARBOR CITY - Zoey Gross of Mays Landing competed in the local MLB Pitch, Hit, Run competition 13/14-year-old softball division held at Egg Harbor City Community School and then moved on to Sectionals held in Northfield.
In order to make it to the National Finals, players have to advance through four levels of competitions, and won at their Local, Sectional and Team Championship competitions. Zoey’s sectional score was one of the top three 13/14-year-old softball division scores in the Philadelphia MLB geographic market. Zoey moved on to compete in the Team Championship 13/14-year-old softball division held at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on June 18 where she won first place.
It was announced on the MLB Network that her team championship score was in the top three nationally of all 30 MLB ballparks. Zoey will move on to compete at the 2016 MLB All Star game held in San Diego at Petco Park. Zoey is one of only 24 National Finalists who received an all-expenses paid trip to San Diego. Zoey also had the chance to field balls on the field during the home run derby, attend the All-Star game, and participate in All-Star Fanfest, as well as other VIP activities.
