HAMMONTON - There will be plenty for families to enjoy at the 4th annual Hammonton Peach Party on July 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Downtown Hammonton at the Vine Street Parking Lot.

Pastore Orchards will be back to provide the festival with bushels and bushels of these beautiful summer beauties. According to Jennifer Pastore, they enjoy setting up a mini version of their regular farm stand and featuring the fruit that has been part of their 100-year history. Their booth will be manned by long-time employee Brittany Lupinetti and her staff, for the same great service you receive at their regular stand on Route 30, in Elm.

South Jersey bluegrass band, Home Cookin’, will be back to serve up its blend of bluegrass and traditional country music. Like last year, there will be picture opportunities in front of the antique peach tractor provided by Tommy Mature of Hammonton. Mr. Mature contributes to the history of peach farming in Hammonton’s community and enjoys discussing it with all who come by for their picture.

As usual, they expect a visit from the newly crowned 2016 New Jersey Peach Queen, who will visit with her “court” of past Hammonton Peach Queens from the 1950s and 1960s. They will be hosted by Inferrera’s Market, where there will be an extensive display of memorabilia about the Peach Queen heyday in Hammonton. “I love sharing our history of this interesting era of Hammonton with the people who attend the festival,” said Dot Orlandini, owner of Inferrera’s Market, a 60-year old Italian Market.

The most popular event last year was the “Best Peach Fuzz Baby Contest” sponsored by Behind the Moon, a children’s clothing shop in the downtown. Enter your 1-year-olds or younger in this contest and be one of three winners based on the cutest fuzzy head.

“We’ve had many of our customers ask if we would again sponsor this contest,” said Brooke Sacco, owner of Behind the Moon. “We were pleasantly surprised how many adorable ‘bald’ babies were entered last year!” The pictures will be taken at the Peach Fuzz booth and printed for display on the voting board. Customers at the Peach Party can then vote for their “Favorite Peach Fuzzy Head!”

Also look for complimentary glitter tattoos at the Sassy Sweets booth, a peach toss game at the Toy Market booth and games and giveaways at the AtlantiCare booth. And of course, there will be plenty of peach pies, hand pies, cobbler, bread pudding, coffee, iced tea, lemonade, sweet buns, pancakes, waffles & cream, jams, jellies, salads and all featuring the fabulous summer peach . Two new foods trucks will be on hand to provide us with their specialties — A Cannoli World, with a peach cannoli and Beast of the Street, with delicious lunch options for hungry customers.

Finally, don’t miss an opportunity to enter the local contest for the Perfect Peach Pie where the local winner will win a grand prize worth $100 and a second prize of $25 all donated by local businesses. That local winner is then invited to enter the state-wide contest to be held at the end of August at the Fox TV news station in Philadelphia, for a chance to win one of two prizes worth $300 — one for a North Jersey winner and one for a South Jersey winner. Simply bring your single or double crust peach pie to the Peach Party by 10:45 a.m. and register your entry. Judging will begin at 11 and the winner announced at noon. For more information about the contest, please call Linda at (609) 760-4085.

The Peach Party is sponsored by MainStreet Hammonton and made possible by the corporate partnership with AtlantiCare, which continues to make healthy living part of its commitment to South Jersey.

“We are pleased to sponsor and participate in another Peach Party in Downtown Hammonton as it promotes local, healthy eating and family-fun activities,” said Glen Stoll, assistant vice president of medical specialties and current president of the Greater Hammonton Chamber of Commerce.

“The morning is sure to please all peach lovers and families looking for a fun outing,” says Linda Cashan, event coordinator, “and you can plan to eat your breakfast or lunch at the festival or one of the nearby downtown restaurants, just steps away!”
