HAMMONTON - Hammonton’s restaurant scene has become even more eclectic with the opening of T-Bone Taco, which celebrated its ribbon cutting on Aug. 18.

“Food has always been my passion and I want something from my culture to grow in Hammonton” said owner Angel Gonzalez. He said he had been looking for a place to open up his own restaurant. When the opportunity presented itself in Hammonton, he knew he had to take it.

T-Bone Taco not only serves Mexican food, but also American and Tex-Mex. According to Gonzalez, who has traveled extensively, “We make the best burgers.”

T-Bone Taco has been open for about a month before the ribbon cutting in order to work out the kinks and make sure everything was just right for the grand opening. Ivette McGahee heard about the new restaurant and came to try out the food on Thursday evening with her husband Steve McGahee. She wasn’t disappointed. “The food is really good,” said Ivette.

In honor of the ribbon cutting, Gonzalez hired an authentic mariachi band called Mariachi Nuevo Mexico of New Jersey. The band traveled all the way from New York to play the special occasion. Customers and town officials alike were amazed over the talent of all the members and enthusiastically clapped after every song.

As the time drew near for the ribbon cutting, everyone moved outside to experience the moment, including the mariachi band. Surrounded by his staff, Mayor Steve DiDonato, Cassie Iacovelli, executive director of MainStreet Hammonton, and John Runfolo, executive director of the Greater Hammonton Chamber of Commerce, Gonzalez cut the ceremonial ribbon with a huge grin.

T-Bone Taco is a cozy restaurant conveniently located at 7 N. Egg Harbor Road. It’s open every day, except Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., though they may be extending their hours at some point in the future.
