Toddlers enjoy their own movie matinee
HAMMONTON - Every Friday in September toddlers and their parents are invited to come to the Hammonton Family Success Center to enjoy a free movie during the Toddler Matinee.
“We thought it would be nice to have something for the little guys as the big ones go back to school,” said Melissa Saunders, an employee at the center.
Last week’s movie was actually a series of Curious George episodes called, “Curious George Makes New Friends.” The movie, or episodes, were chosen because “toddlers are going to preschool for the first time and we thought it would be a good movie for the kids to learn how to make friends,” said Saunders.
As the children arrived, they were offered freshly made popcorn and water, both provided free by the center. The children also were given the option to color if they got bored with the movie.
The movies are being shown in the center’s very own theater. The theater room, located in the basement of the center, was created in memory of Gabrielle Nichol Campione through donations made by her parents.
Every room in the basement was put together solely through donations. Other rooms include a recreation room, lounge, exercise room, music room and a children’s play area.
This Friday’s movie will be “Tinkerbell and the Legend of the Neverbeast” and will begin at 10 a.m. Registration is required.
