Letter: Hammonton First was formed to listen to the people
Will run for re-election as mayor in November
Hammonton First was founded 12 years ago this month. On Feb. 8, 2005 a group of people got together after a Town Council meeting. During that council meeting they, along with the remaining 15,000 residents of Hammonton, were told by the then-Mayor and Council that they would “vote first and then listen to the people.”
On that day Hammonton changed forever. Hammonton First was formed to listen to the people and continues to be for the people and not the politics.
On Feb. 8, 2017, in a short span of 12 years, our town has never looked better, never has been as diversified in its economy, and never had a more open, honest government.
In honor of Hammonton, in honor of all the residents who have worked tirelessly and in honor of Hammonton First and the hard work that has been accomplished, I chose this special day to make an announcement about my public service future.
My wife, Debbie, and I love this town. I have been honored to serve as your mayor for the past seven-plus years. I humbly ask for your support in November as I will be running for re-election to the office of Mayor of the Town of Hammonton.
The Hammonton First Town Council Team that will be running with me will be announced very soon, too. I also would like to personally invite you to a free Hammonton Community Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Alley located at 1151 S. White Horse Pike.
Mayor Steve DiDonato
