Michael Ricca, of Ricca Brothers Brick Oven Pizzeria & Bar located in Hammonton, captured second place in the USA Caputo Cup Championship (traditional division) for his margherita pepperoni pizza.

The competition was held in Atlantic City on Oct. 17 and 18 during the first Pizza & Pasta Northeast convention.

About 100 pizza makers throughout the United States competed in four divisions (traditional, non-traditional, pizza Napoletana/STG and gluten-free) in the pizza-making competition. Event attendees were invited to sit in and see how some of the best in the business prepared their pies. Competitors brought their own dough and ingredients, assembled then baked their pizzas in view of the audience. Their pizza was then presented to a panel of judges. This was the fourth annual Caputo Cup USA, the first in Atlantic City.

This competition was sponsored by Antimo Caputo Flour. Antimo Caputo is known for its double zero flour and other products for pizza restaurants.
