The Folsom 16U softball team, coached by Sandi Kaiser, won the 2015 Atlantic Babe Ruth Softball League 16U Championship for the second consecutive year with a season record of 17-0.

The core players who reached the championship series three years in a row were Sami Jo Kemmerer (P), Lexi Tomasello (P), Paige Souder (C), Nikki Raup (OF/IF) and Alyssa Raup (2nd).

The team was led by 16-year-olds, Kemmerer, Tessa Carty (P/SS) and A. Raup. The team scored 177 runs and gave up 18 runs all season.

Defensively, Folsom boasts an experienced and talented pitching staff consisting of sophomores, Kemmerer and Carty (A.C.I.T. Varsity Red Hawks), Tomasello (HHS) and seventh-grader, Cayla Kalani (HMS).

Framing the ball behind the plate for the majority of the season was starting eighth-grader, Paige Souder (HMS) with relief from eighth-grader Nikki Raup (HMS) and ninth-grader Stephanie Jo Pantalone (HHS).

This team is strong, well rounded and unique with every girl playing multiple positions on the field.

“The majority of these girls have played together for 3-plus years and know that there are no favorites and that every girl is expected to pull her own weight and be a leader, which they all do,” said Kaiser.

During this season the team won 12 games by mercy ruling, 2 games by forfeit and the remaining 3 wins by scores of 5-plus runs each.

Rounding out the team are Marisa Passarella (SS), Gianna Verderame (3rd) and Sloane Genovese (OF). 12U double rostered players who contributed during the season were Haley Dursch and Carrigan Genovese.

The team was sponsored by the DCD Fire & Security, Inc., and the Hammonton Center for Rehabilitation.

The coaching staff consists of Kaiser, Joe Verderame, Chrissy Kalani, Joe Carty and Dave Genovese.
