HHS yearbook gets bronze award in state competition
HAMMONTON – The 2015 edition of the Hammonton High School yearbook was recently awarded a Third Place Bronze certificate for their submission in the Garden State Scholastic Press Association summer yearbook contest. More than 20 New Jersey schools submitted publications for evaluation and consideration.
An out-of-state judge evaluated the book across a wide range of journalistic areas ranging from copy to headline writing to design and photography. The book's theme, "Our World of Blue," celebrated the school colors and its long history of tradition.
Class of 2015 graduate,s Mackenzie Fitchett, Michaela Salvo and Lauren Rivera, developed the theme concept and cover design at the Jostens workshop held at Gettysburg Contest in July. The editorial staff also included senior Rileigh Mason.
“I am incredibly proud of how the club members worked to create more journalistically sound design, writing and photography book,” said club adviser Stacy Gerst, who advised the program from 2012-2015. “The amount of time they invest often goes unnoticed and unvalued. This recognition is well-deserved."
Plans for the next edition, "In an Instant," are already under way under the direction of new adviser Adam Preim.
