HAMILTON – Police on Friday arrested a school bus driver after a report from Hamilton Township School District the previous day of possible "inappropriate behavior" regarding the man and a student on his bus.

A police statement said Kyle McArdle, 22, of Mays Landing was charged with second-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said their investigation determined McArdle had improperly touched a student on a bus he was driving. McArdle works for a third-party contractor, not the school district.

McArdle was placed in the Atlantic County Jail, police said.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Crimes Against Children Unit and police conducted the investigation.

Police did not identify the contractor.
