Amazon needs to fill 2,000 jobs at South Jersey complex
WEST DEPTFORD - It’s just one building on Mantua Grove Road.
But inside, the Amazon Fulfillment Center in West Deptford will be the equivalent of a small town and will bustle inside when its fully operational.
Amazon wants to fill 2,000 full-time positions for its mid-September kickoff, officials with the company said recently.
Yes, you heard it.
That’s 2,000 people working inside the 655,000-square-foot building. That’s more workers than Gloucester County’s little borough of Newfield has residents.
Amazon currently employs more than 200,000 full-time employees in the United States. The West Deptford center is among 175 fulfillment facilities in the world and 100 in the country.
At the West Deptford facility, employees will pick products with the help of a robotic system, pack and ship orders for Amazon.com.
Full-time employment includes parental leave, company stock, health care, and 401K retirement savings.
West Deptford’s massive center includes classroom space for continuing education programs offered by the company. Amazon’s Career Choice program offers 95 percent of tuition costs for its fulfillment center employees to help them pursue courses in fields that may not be related to their career at Amazon.
More than 12,000 Amazon workers in the country have used the retraining program.
Available positions will be posted at www.workatamazonfulfillment.com, the company said.
