WINSLOW – The Boy Scouts of America has ended the longtime involvement of a  Sicklerville man accused of child-pornography offenses.

James Roberts, 74, was arrested Friday after a raid at his Avella Lane home, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said.

The Boy Scouts has severed all ties to the Winslow resident, the organization's New Jersey leader said Saturday.

"While these allegations appear unrelated to Scouting, upon learning of these reports we took immediate action to remove this individual and prohibit him from any future participation in our programs," said Kevin Bishop, Scout Executive and CEO for the Garden State Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Bishop said his organization has "comprehensive policies and procedures to serve as barriers to abuse," including a requirement that "two or more adult leaders be present with youth at all times during Scouting activities."

Roberts was released from Camden County Jail after being charged with possessing and distributing child pornography.

An investigation is ongoing, the prosecutor's office said.
